Principal Poincar\'e Pontryagin Function associated to some families of Morse real polynomials

It is known that the Principal Poincar\'e Pontryagin Function is generically an Abelian integral. We give a sufficient condition on monodromy to ensure that it is an Abelian integral also in non generic cases. In non generic cases it is an iterated integral. Uribe [17, 18] gives in a special case a precise description of the Principal Poincar\'e Pontryagin Function, an iterated integral of length at most 2, involving logarithmic functions with only one ramification at a point at infinity. We extend this result to some non isodromic families of real Morse polynomials.
Resonance of minimizers forn-level quantum systems with an arbitrary cost

We consider an optimal control problem describing a laser-induced population transfer on a n-level quantum system. For a convex cost depending only on the moduli of controls ( i.e. the lasers intensities), we prove that there always exists a minimizer in resonance. This permits to justify some strategies used in experimental physics. It is also quite important because it permits to reduce remarkably the complexity of the problem (and extend some of our previous results for n=2 and n=3): instead of looking for minimizers on the sphere one is reduced to look just for minimizers on the sphere . The chaotic Dadras–Momeni system: control and hyperchaotification

In this paper a novel three-dimensional autonomous chaotic system, the so called Dadras-Momeni system, is considered and two different control techniques are employed to realize chaos control and chaos synchronization. Firstly, the optimal control of the chaotic system is discussed and an open loop feedback controller is proposed to stabilize the system states to one of the system equilibria, minimizing the cost function by virtue of the Pontryagin’s minimum principle. Time-optimal selective pulses of two uncoupled spin-1/2 particles

We investigate the time-optimal solution of the selective control of two uncoupled spin 1/2 particles. Using the Pontryagin Maximum Principle, we derive the global time-optimal pulses for two spins with different offsets. We show that the Pontryagin Hamiltonian can be written as a one-dimensional effective Hamiltonian. The optimal fields can be expressed analytically in terms of elliptic integrals. The time-optimal control problem is solved for the selective inversion and excitation processes. A bifurcation in the structure of the control fields occurs for a specific offset threshold. Time-optimal control of SU(2) quantum operations

We propose an analysis of the time-optimal control of SU(2) quantum operations. By using the Pontryagin Maximum Principle, we show how to determine the optimal trajectory reaching a given target state. Explicit analytical solutions are given for two specific examples. We discuss the role of the detuning in the construction of the optimal synthesis.

Optimal control with state constraints and the space shuttle re-entry problem

In this article, we initialize the analysis under generic assumptions of the small \textit{time optimal synthesis} for single input systems with \textit{state constraints}. We use geometric methods to evaluate \textit{the small time reachable set} and necessary optimality conditions. Our work is motivated by the \textit{optimal control of the atmospheric arc for the re-entry of a space shuttle}, where the vehicle is subject to constraints on the thermal flux and on the normal acceleration. A \textit{multiple shooting technique} is finally applied to compute the optimal longitudinal arc.
